Taman Negara Part II

on our way to Nusa Camp.as i said earlier,15 minutes away from Kuala Tahan jetty.the best part was,the scenery.totally mesmerizing and mind-relaxing.besides that,we were going against the current!and when sampai kat jeram..weeeeeeeeeeee!!it went all bumpy and we got wet sbb air masuk dlm boat!but best sangat!!really2 enjoyed it!at first it was quite scary.but then it became really fun.

this is the man who navigated the 'water bus' upstream!

mesmerizing and so green.Subhanallah.Allah is so GREAT!
well, this is not my favourite shot though.

that's the second 'water bus'.those in that boat were all soaked up,sbb kat jeram tu the navigator refused to slow down!hahahahahaha.

huanying!huanying!lai Nusa Camp!best!kesian tourist lain sbb we all ramai!tp sangat meriah.the food was really good.they served ikan sungai,e.g.ikan keli.of course it tasted so good!
the surrounding area at the camp is clean, neat and proper.not too fancy, but comfortable enough!

after we've settled our things etc,and after maghrib,at around 730p.m we in 3 groups went for a night walk.masukla hutan.tepi hutan.but it was different, because the guides know their stuff well.we stopped at a "mata air" and he asked us to tutup our torchlights.it was dark, but slowly nampak glitters of lights.fireflies.Amazing!pastuh,he even told us where we could find a female tarantula spider.cun kan?but obviously we had to keep our distance away from the pokok, coz tarantulas can jump up to a few meters.jauhkan?and definitely it can bite and kill.the walk took us i think a good 1hours 30 minutes.since we got back at the camp quite early,9 pm maybe,so we played games.best sangat!started off with 'goreng pisang' game.hahaha.fun!

we did 3 rounds of 'goreng pisang' and pastuh dah boring so,the camp people taught us all new games.which was even more fun than 'goreng pisang'.too bad,i misplaced my camera that day,so i didnt manage to take pictures of us all.but hey it was a lot of fun.the second game we played, mmg tricky habis.1,2,3,4,5,6,[name of an animal].so who fails to come up with an animal, kalah.best sangat.mcm2 nama animals keluar malam tuh.hahahahahaha.we had loads of fun!

we went to bed at around 12 plus.and all so excited for the next day.ok.so sambung next part.part III.ciao.

Taman Negara 2005 - Part I

30th September 2005,is a date to remember. We together with our 43 other classmates departed from campus to Kuala Tahan,to experience Taman Negara.it is actually 'camping sambil belajar' but,it is definitely not any other typical boresome the-sambil-belajar thing u know.infact it was the best of all class trips organized.we went in one bus and a van.blame those at p*&^%$%$.Anyways,we left Shah Alam around 12 something(noon la).the journey took us a good 6 hours of munching,sleeping(&snoring),menjerit2 and borak2(plus gossiping) to reach Kuala Tahan, our destination.but the journey was fun though.memang lah bonding session between us classmates sbb hari biasa, busy with our own life.so,we did lots of catching ups with the latest gossips etc..etc..hahaha.pakcik bus tu drive slow.tp,xpelah.biar lambat asal selamat.=).we reached Kuala Tahan at 6 and the guy or the guide were already there waiting for us.(sian, lama menanti.)=)

this pic down here is taken before we left campus.Al-maklumlah.janji bertolak kol 11.tp,it's actually an hour later.Aaaaah.biasalah tu.yang penting,by 11,i was already there together with a few others who quite understands the meaning of Punctuality.(muhahahahaha!)oklah.pagi tu ade class, habis lambat.hehe.i wont name my friends here, but my friends do look happy and excited and... excited!
korg tak takut kene gigit pacat ke?
Leeches?my girlfriends packed themselves with all kinds of insect repellent.obviously!i brought along a bottle of shieldtox.i'm not afraid of it but i'm so GELI with leeches!hahahaha.most probably, org lain pon geli jugak.biasalah.kdg2 takut jugak.but buat2 xtakut so that i wont get too paranoid if it got onto my skin.eeeuww!!

6p.m(the same day)upon arrival.........TADAAAAAA!!INI WILAYAH CELCOM!can u see that blue and white err..poster?banner?muhahahahah!how cool is that man?ade signal ok and full bar!sempatla nak give my mom a ring to tell her that we've reached Kuala Tahan safely in one piece.hehehe.by then we were all so excited and xsabar2 to ride the 'water bus'.hahaha.i did get a few shots before we "board" the water bus.cool!oh yes,the air there is so clean and fresh.xmcm kat kl.busuk!bau exhaust, carbon monoxide!(tarik nafas dalam2,and lepas.)aaaaaaaaaaah!bestnyer kat kuala Tahan.Biarla masuk ceruk mana, kampung orang, but u cant get anything like this in KL.obviously!
okay,so the first picture,on the upper left,i took it upon arrival.can u see the big smiles?most probably not.but u can tell that these friends of mine are all soo ready! to enjoy our weekends in Taman Negara.the second pic on the upper right is the view from the bank.u see,in KL it rained alot.but actually,it didnt rain that much in this part of the country, thus the water level dropped.i almost forgot,KL ujan through cloud seeding.haha.look at the pic again.THAT! is the water bus that i mentioned earlier.cool, kan?and then, that's the current jetty.my lecturer tgh kira org to board the first 'water bus'.i was amongst the first 13 lucky passengers!yeeeehaaaa!Nusa Camp! Here we come!

Nusa Camp?that's where we were heading to.the place where we stayed.best ok.the journey from Kuala Tahan to our camp is only 15 minutes.it would've been hours of we were from Kuala Tembeling.the 'old' jetty.so,we did save a few hours.but missed a few hours of boat rides.xkisahlah.it was fun & scary at the same time!tp best! enjoy the rest of the pics.i'll continue with part II later.

view from the bank
Smile girls!
it says "Welcome to Taman Negara"

Cobra 2005

9th September 2005, we went to KJ stadium to watch the most-anticipated-for rugby tournament COBRA. well, unfortunately, i only had to watch the school kids play. there were i think 10 selected teams all together. i only remembered a few, SESMA, SAS, BROADWATERS from England, one from Sarawak, another one from Singapore, and a few more which i can hardly remember. lastly, COBRA Jr. team. Anyways, the day was bright and fine and it gets very hot at noon. i did get a few shots on the boys on the field.final results, champion goes to COBRA, second place SESMA.ni for teams below 18.the 'in' thing is teams org dewasa. COBRA,newzealand, australia, fiji (these are rugby clubs la.ala sume org pon tau kan?)and there were also NS wanderers, etc etc.He went.i didnt.but i still enjoyed the games that i watched.

hooo. look at this one.eeeeeyah!eeeeeeyah!push!push!hahaha.i am so amazed with the concept of the game.its pretty difficult to describe actually sbb i dont quite know the terms.

yang ni pulak.can u see.one of the boys are lying on the ground.waiting for his teammates to rescue the ball in his hands before it got snatched away by the opponents.the boy in blue and yellow jersey,on the right side of no.7, he's calling his other teammates to come nearer.

hurm..someone's DOWN.someone's joint got dislocated.oh nooo!Call in the paramedics!Hurry up boy!

oo ow!watch it!watch it!Dia nak tergolek!hahaha.i love this pic so much.but how i wish i have a more errr..canggeh camera to capture this shot!

anyways,i enjoyed taking the pics and enjoyed watching the game. this is my first time though but i've watched rugby games back in campus.all in all,it was an enjoyable and memorable day.

Azlan Shah Cup 2005

Malaysia Vs India Posted by Hello

5th Jun, Joe and I went to the National Hockey Stadium, BJ.. konon2 nak witness the winning game of Malaysia against India. however, the game was not good at all!! i repeat! NOT GOOD AT ALL!! i am sure they can do better than that tp mcm tulah.. so inconsistent.. they win a game today, tomorrow, they lose so badly.. *Sigh.. u can see the picture.. mase tuh, India tgh attack!! haiyaak!!! heh, despite being very2 disappointed with the quality of the game which Malaysia and India showed.. we were quite excited because it has been a while since we last saw a hockey match live.. Owh, another thing.. i think Roslan Jamaluddin should be given the credit for his superb-reflex which had indeed saved Malaysia from losing to India with a big margin! hisk.. kesian die.. and i definitely think, the Hockey players cannot depend on the penalty shot given, they should try for a field-goal instead.. sbb when they depend so much on penalty shots, diorg cam, takde GOAL! masuk D je, nak carik kaki.. to me, that's the LAST resort.. tp, selagi boleh cuba for field-goal, why not?? right?

and this pic here, includes the two teams that have managed to go to the finals.. korea and australia. walaupon Australia menang through Golden-not-so-golden Goal [sbb ergh.. stress] tp, i still think that, Korea is the best team this time.. extra credits to the koreans because all their players are juniors.. and kodi la Aussie sbb key players sume senior.. at least now we know that malaysia, korea, india, newzealand, and team2 lain dah turunkan junior team.. we enjoyed the game.. walaupon the teams that we supported kalah. takpe.. next year, hopefully, Australia tak menang.. [jhtnye!!] hehehe.. :p

we had loads of fun!!
till then, ciao.

when things go wrong

today is a day to remember.. hari ni, i bought a coconut.. kelapa k.. bukan coconut milk or whatever yg instant.. sbb nak masak ala-ala malaysia punya pasal.. beli la coconut sebijik.. sebab baru 1st time nak pecahkan coconut shell.. sesungguhnya, sangatlah lama untuk kelapa tu pecah.. because hey, i have to know where the pressure point is.. after maybe 6 hits.. crack..shrrrr.. air kelapa pon keluar.. hooray!! but the joy didnt last that long did it? camne nak korek isi die?? hoklen!! gile betul.. apesal aaa UK ni takde mesin parut kelapa.. or, paling2 pon.. apesal la kedai Haji tu takde service memarut kelapa?? after all.. kedai org Islam.. where most of the customers are muslims and we use alot alot of santan.. so, dgn redha nye, terpakse lah korek gune pisau.. and hiris all the chocolate thing yang lekat at the back of the isi.. potong la dengan bersungguh-sungguh sbb tak sabar nak blend.. air dah masak.. fuh.. nak cepat punya pasal.. cebisan isi kelapa tu "terpele'ot".. and Ouchhhhhhhhh!!! sakit la!! i cut my own finger!! accidentally!! well.. at one point, it hurts alot.. tp, after i've managed to blend it.. owh!! best siut!! dapat pati santan! hilang segala kesakitan.. hurmm.. sesungguhnya, my hardwork and determination has been paid!! walaupon terpakse menahan kesakitan... hehe.. puas2.. there's always something that u learn when things go wrong.. anything.. cheers!!!

the significance of pestle and mortar

the tradition of us...

well.. as u can see.. there's a pestle and mortar up there in the pic.. and 2 bottles with labels on it, and also that BIG Rx over there.. this is purely a sign of the world of pharmacy.. in the older days, the druggists or pharmacists or chemists [which ever that feels right to you] uses pestle and mortar to make a formulation [ubat la].. even today, we still use it.. mmg concept batu lesung pun.. buat la cream ke, suspension, syrup, elixir, even capsule filling, we still use the pestle and mortar.. we only use it in the labs.. kat industries dah sophisticated instrument.. even in hospitals.. they dont really process it in the hospital.. stakat buat dilution je.. but then again it also depend on the type of drugs.. such as, anti-cancer drugs.. in UM, they process the drug in a sterile lab.. hurmm.. lab tu mmg cun lah.. it is also custom-made.. so, anyways.. the pestle and mortar have indeed become a significant symbol to the pharmaceutical field.. the tradition will not be forgotten as the knowledge will definitely be passed down from generation to generation.. walaupon its just a pestle and mortar.. jgnla pandang serong.. sbb bende itu lah yg telah banyak menghasilkan ubat-ubatan untuk memulihkan kebanyakan pesakit.. cheers!

Pharmacists and Doctors

Have u ever wondered how doctors in Malaysia are allowed to dispense Medications??

In the older days, when Tanah Melayu was under the British Colonization, the british had problems especially when the people got sick with various diseases. So, they built King Edward College in Singapore [now, known as National University of Singapore] to educate the people of Tanah Melayu to become doctors and pharmacists.. however, the intake of students to do Pharmacy, was much smaller, compared to those who were accepted to do Medicine.. for your Information, King Edward College is where Tun Dr. Mahathir and his wife did their MBBS. and that was where our former Minister of Education, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Musa did his degree in Pharmacy. Ok, so, during the second world war, KEC was closed.. and it is during this time when the british desperately needs Pharmacists and doctors because alot of the people had contracted various types of diseases. Unfortunately, the numbers of pharmacists in Tanah Melayu was still insufficient.. compared to the numbers of Available doctors.. so, the British decided to 'Termporarily Allow" Doctors to dispense with a hope that,in the future the number of pharmacists will increase.. but that didnt happen.. Unfortunately. because it's the mentality of the society today that having the title DR. is like 'WOW'.. it's like everything to have a DR before ur name.. akibatnye.. every parents wants their children to become a doctor.. Pharmacists, semakin dilupakan.. worse still.. the role of Pharmacists tidak diperlukan langsung.. sad aint it?

Doctors, they learn about the human body.very detail.ye lah.belajar pon 5 years.Lame ok.Anyways, That DOES NOT mean that they are experts in drugs. i'll give u a situation. A 5 year old girl has cough but unproductive. meaning the girl couldnt cough the flam out. Some doctor (not all ya?) would MOST probably prescribe her with an orange flavoured cough syrup. the normal one u get from MOST clinics and even hospitals. it's usually BROWN in colour, dark brown for adults.

A pharmacists would say THAT brown thing is BENA. it is an antitussive, one that gives soothing effects BY Suppressing cough. yes it can be given to adults coz we can just cough the thing out, kan? but it will not help the little girl remove the flam. She's only 5! and kids at these tender age tend to vomit it out and then yada yada yada! Poor little girl. a Bena Syrup wont do the magic. She should be given a mucolytics instead. only a pharmacists can explain the rationale of why mucolytics instead of Bena the brown cough syrup for small children.

I am not saying that doctors arent good. of course they are! they spent 5 years of studying(semua lah) to become a Doctor.but it is best that we do what we're supposed to do.Doctors diagnose patients, and prescribe. and pharmacists can consult the patients on how to take the drugs, what are the side effects of the ubat, and help the patient understand better on the drugs that they will have to take rather than some one who only knows "ubat ni mengantuk. ambik 2 kali sehari selepas makan"kan? At least patient tu tau la.. owh it is Amoxicillin rather than antibiotics.lets just put it this way. why do u go and see a doctor when u're sick? because they are the experts in diagnosis.yes! as simple as that

some might say my opinions are biased. but,i believe that my justifications are correct. we study pharmacy for four years with hopes that we could serve the community better. Bukan 'cik makan ubat ni 2 kali lepas makan'. we dont want that do we? from my observations, ramai orang yg dtg pharmacies to buy medications.just like the story about the 5 year old girl i wrote about. sometimes these ppl know what doctors would prescribe them, and these ppl know what they need. a mucolytics not a Bena.

a friend of mine who's currently based in Otago Uni doing medicine told me that, pharmacists help by making doctors life easier. xpayah susah2 nak go through the hassle to understand the pharmacokinetics of the drugs when u already have pharmacists. owh, then comes the money problem. some ppl say "kacau my periuk nasi" because obviously the bulk of the profits are from the medications that they sell. owh Lord. well. i dont want to comment on that. not now.

I believe that Doctors and pharmacists in Malaysia should co-operate. work synergistically.remember we are Health Care Providers. Government should promote the importance of pharmacists in Malaysia. and instead of sending loads and loads of students abroad to do medicine, why not send some brilliant ones too to become pharmacists. we are still short of pharmacists in government hospitals. ape ni? come on la! dentist pon! we should Balanced everything out. in this world, xde yg lebih important. semua sama penting. we need engineers to build buildings, roads, etc. etc. but we need architechs as well to design the buildings, right? and my suggestions to parents, try pharmacy instead. We pharmacists will keep on fighting to get our rights back to dispense.

When Experience is More than Money

i used to come to work at my faculty during the long holidays.. i was "persuaded" by my always-missing-me girlfriend.. lovely eh? no lah.. i took the job because, at least i get a hands-on experience in doing analysis or anything related to pharmacy..
we, [my gf and i] together with our two other classmates, worked with Weber.. We had a wonderful time.. working with him.. walaupon, the workload is unbearable.. we worked in a small institute named iKUS.. the experience was indeed invaluable.. we,the four of us, plus Weber, went places to collect samples.. Antara tempat-tempat yang dipergi adalah:
  • lake garden KL
  • Bukit Tinggi (Best!! we even got ourselves free plants)
  • UiTM new-yet-to-be-developed Campus Site in Puncak Alam [the journey was horrible!! went Dizzy naik the super-lembut-suspension Storm.. tp, dpt tongkat ali!! hahaha]
  • UM Chemistry Department [belajar pressing and drying.. i wasnt easy and it is STILL not easy]
so, All in all.. superb experience.. haha.. banyakla jugak curi2 tulang.. tp, seriously.. mmg banyak kerja.. BEST!! Dahla dalam keadaan kesempitan wang, tp sbb ade member mmg lah sangat best.. This holiday, i'm really looking forward to work at the faculty again.. to me.. it's easy, and beneficial.. Gaji RM4 per hour, and that's quite alot.. cukupla untuk bayar all the extras.. well, a good opportunity doesnt come often.. so, mustilah make full use of it.. right?? Harap2, this time keje will be more enjoyable, and fun, exciting, and whatever.. owh yeah!
